Hugely disappointed!!!

This is nothing to do with textiles but I must comment and hope that people who read my blog will contact the Victorian Government.
The RSPCA has alerted us to the fact that the Victorian Government is proposing legislation for puppy breeding that is not acceptable. We only have till August 14th to send in our submissions about our response to the proposal. Go to this link to hear an interview with the minister responsible.
I find it exceptionally disappointing that the leader of the party making these proposals is a qualified vet. You can go to Oscar's Law to read more about this issue. (Facebook link to Oscars Law)
If you live in Victoria, Australia, please contact your local member and express your dismay at the proposed cruel treatment of dogs and cats.

Mary, I am also a member of the RSPCA but didn't know this was going on, so thank you for posting those links, which I've now read. I am so disillusioned with politics lately; I used to know exactly who to vote for and why, but now there is so much like this that goes against what I believe is right, I just feel like voting informal at future elections. None of the pollies seem able to make decisions that go along with public opinion. As you so rightly pointed out, one would think the Premier being a vet would have a different view of these issues.

Gina, I know what you mean but I an determined to vote for someone, I'm just not sure yet. I'll have to look closely at where the preferences go too. But I am glad I have to vote, I might just not bother otherwise. Thank goodness for compulsory voting.

I agree completely with you about compulsory voting. I don't know why more countries don't have this; it makes people stop and think about what they want for the future, especially most younger people who probably couldn't care less, although having said that, there is a lot of older people who vote informal, who should know better! No, I will certainly vote one way or the other - informals are a wasted vote.

Actually Gina, I have come around to thinking that even an informal vote is a vote - it at least shows the feeling of lack of choices. And people still turn out to give the informal vote, rather than not bothering at all - as I would be tempted to do this time if I didn't have to vote. Then we would only have the really strongly dedicated voting and that might be scary.
