My Tapestry Is Not White Anymore!

I have decided that my white tapestry (you can see it here) has been out in The Elements long enough.
I went out and took it out of the flower pot it has been resting in recently - maybe not resting, maybe it was developing.

Anyway, today seems like a good day to have a look at it and see if I think it might be possible to put it in the exhibition. I suspect it may not look that good but who knows?

Here is it in the flower pot. Note that it is under the hollyhock plant and the flowers do really fall on and near it. Then I help it along by putting the ones that miss the pot into the pot. It has built up quite a layer over the last few weeks.

You can just see the edges and small patches of the tapestry. Two of the edges have curled up, not sure why.

This is the back. I shouldn't have been surprised to see wildlife living on it but I was! Now they are all safely back in the pot, back under the layer of rotting flowers.
This is the disgusting-looking underneath of the flowers, which was in close contact with the tapestry.
The top, definitely not white anymore.
Wonder what it will look like when/if I rinse it.
I will leave it out in the sun for a while to let it totally dry (the underneath was actually damp) and then decide if just brushing it will be enough or if I need to wash it out.

I put the flowers back to protect the creatures that were living under the blanket of flowers.
 The back seems lighter.
Note the pretty purple warp yarns. Wonder if they will survive washing.

Still out in The Elements.

My small tapestry is in a flower pot at the moment, under the hollyhocks. They drop their flowers very conveniently into the pot - most of them fall in, some others are 'helped' into the pot.

There is some blue staining which is, presumably, coming from the flowers.

The flowers are starting to rot, which is putting some darker, murky colour onto the tapestry, I think. I am not sure if it will last if I ever decide to wash the tapestry. But it will be interesting to see.

There is still a month to go before I have to decide if I am going to enter it in the challenge. I'll wait and see what state it gets into by then.

I just could not not have texture!

I missed yet another interesting date last week, 4/12/16. And there is another coming soon, 8/12/16. But I am going to post today anyway, in case I forget tomorrow.

I have made my small white(ish) tapestry. I was going to practise even weaving, keeping my edges straight, etc. But I just couldn't bring myself to do that - I really like texture.

So I introduced some knobbly yarn I had. I don't know what it is made of, so my experiment is not going to be particularly scientific. But then, I am only doing for interest, not a real scientific enquiry.

And I was going along ok with the straight edges but then must have lost concentration for the last 3rd of the piece. It comes in on the right - always on the right.
Actually, the pulling in doesn't seem so bad in this picture, maybe I managed to pull it into shape a bit.

It is currently 'resting' on the loom, prior to being cut off tomorrow. Then I will put it under the mulberry tree, to be exposed to The Elements - including some fruit.

The plan is to leave it out in the open for a while and see what happens. We are currently having a fair bit of sun and warm weather. Then I will put it in the earth, in the compost heap. So that will be The Elements - sun/fire, earth, wind/air, water/rain (if we have any in the near future. Actually, it is supposed to be raining in a couple of days).

So  you can all look forward to some wonderful  pictures.
