I got second place!!

A friend rang me to ask had I seen that I had won second place in the Australian Sheep and Wool Show - in the Woolcraft section, tapestry weaving.  It was the first year of having a tapestry weaving section. I have posted about the piece I made and am very excited to have won second place!!

That was a phone call I was very happy to receive!!

I haven't found many links to it yet but here is one that shows a lot of the woolcraft pieces. Because I changed my mind about the design as I was weaving, I had a bit of a decision about which way up to hang it. I did make a decision but I see that the piece has been placed in such a way that it doesn't actually matter.

I went with the first one: I thought I could see dusk through a valley with sunset in the distance. And it is in the orientation that I wove it.

This one could have been sunset also, with the darkening sky coming down.

The point of the exercise was going to be about how background colours affect how we see colours. The rectangle of blue seems to be slightly different according to the colours surrounding it. The theme was Vision, a continuation of the 2020 theme, seeing that the show didn't get to be on last year either.  It was sad that the whole event was cancelled, and at such short notice. Lots of people have put in so much work to put the event on. Life is very unpredictable in these Covid times.
