Podcasts
I have been looking at the module and have read the some of the tutorials that tell you how to make a podcast. Not sure I understood all of it but may not need to. Just as with having a blog, I don't think I have anything I really, really want to talk about. So far my blog has been about the Web2 modules but I don't have a topic that I want to research, plan and then record. And THEN find out how to publish. I may have a go but I am more likely to listen to some. At present I am listening to music as I am writing and don't want to stop and concentrate on a podcast, so maybe I am getting around to realising that podcasts are not really my thing. I have done the usual of sitting down to do this when tired and so I cannot be bothered with anything that takes a lot of concentration. Maybe later.
Meeting a favourite author
Yesterday I went to Rendezvous the Romance book store where there were several authors visiting. I met one of my favourite authors, Jo Beverley. I started reading her books many years ago, when you couldn't buy them in Australia, you could only find them in the library. It was very exciting to meet her. Other authors I met were Keri Arthur, Anne Gracie and Barbara Samuel. I have read books by all of them but it was Jo Beverley who was the most exciting for me to meet - I have been reading her books for so long. Must go to Library Thing and see if there are others out there who love her books, and which ones of the many they prefer. Jo Beverley is one of the authors whose books I have and I have put one in my Library Thing catalogue. I have a lot of her books but didn't want to put them all into the catalogue, I have just put samples of favourite authors.

Time gone!
Well, I had another look at Library Thing and went to some of the discussions. I just looked, felt too overwhelmed to join in any. There were some interesting ones there. I especially liked the one that asked you to put in your 5 most re-read books (I think they were in the science fiction category, which is where many of my re-read books are). I kept getting reminded of books I have read several times in the past but have not looked at recently. I occasionally don't want to start a new book and will go back to an old favourite. This may be because I have just read something I really enjoyed and don't feel like moving into something new straight away or it might be because I am feeling tired and haven't got the energy to do justice to a book that I know (hope) I will love. So, my 5 favourite re-reads? As with many people in the group, I don't think I can list the books, it is more a matter of the author and the series (or parts of) that I love to re-read. In the science fiction/fantasy realm there are The Dark Jewels trilogy by Anne Bishop, many C J Cherryh books, Cheryl J Franklin, Lois McMaster Bujold (the Miles Vorkosigan universe) and Catherine Asaro (the Skolian universe).

Library Thing again
Have tried again and the site was up. I always look at these things when I am too tired. It has all these links to go to! Anyway, I started to try and do something interesting so thought of some of my favourite authors. It was amazing how many of them had stories in anthologies that had another favourite author as the main writer (does that make sense?). Anyway, I have started to put down some of the authors whose books I have. I actually have more by most of the authors, just didn't want to put them all in. Not sure that I will put a lot more books but may do so. My favourite bookstore is Rendezvous, in Melbourne. It is a romance bookstore but you can get a lot of fantasy books there also. They will also get in other books.
The Romance Writers of Australia are having a conference soon and I am very pleased to see that Jo Beverley is going to be here. She is doing some book signings too. Must take some books to be signed. Actually, I have just realised that I don't actually have Emily and the Dark Angel, I would just like to have it. I have a lot of other books by Jo Beverley, mostly after she started to write the longer historicals.

Library Thing
Well, I finally got around to opening the computer and trying the next module and what do you know? The site is down for a few hours. So I'll have to try again in a few hours - or days.
I suppose I could go back to the last module and have a look at some of the thousands of links that I haven't visited. I've been inspired by some of the other bloggers doing this course, they have found all sorts of fun things to do. The downside seems to be that they are spending hours on the internet finding them and playing - I mean working! I will have to see what I can do.

Still learning, slowly
I have just noticed that I have some comments that I had to accept. Thanks to the people who posted and apologies for the slow response.
I have also changed the image in my last post because I realised that I had not taken the photo I used in the poster image and could not remember where I got it so, to avoid breaking copyright, I have deleted and put up another.
I hope to have another look at our next session soon - just have to find the time!
Oops! Just noticed that the image came in at a different spot so will have to try to find out how to get rid of the big empty spot where the old image was. Maybe I have to actually read the layout options.

Image Generators
Alright, here I am again, trying to learn new things. I have had a brief look at the image generator page and so far have linked to web page templates. But I have not downloaded anything yet because I don't really want to have a web page, it's a bit like the blog - what will I put in it? I also don't know what to do with the template even if I decide to give it a try.
So on to the next link to see what else I can try.
I have just had a very quick look at the Flickr site, somehow I went to the motivational poster site and made this. Oops! It won't load, I'm getting a message to say there is an internal problem. I'll try again later.
Success!! It was a problem at the Blogger end.
Here is the substitute image I have put in due to concerns about copyright (see next post).
Time to try another link - see if I have any success with something different.
Next: off to the link for Toys, Games & Utilities at Flickr, then off to the map maker page which I then navigated away from to go to customise and ended up at another site with free stuff. Once again, I did not really want any of it as I don't have a social page on the web and am not sure what I would use it for.
Trying something else. Now I have been to a page that lets you put captions on your pictures. Let's see if that uploads. Yes!!

Flickr
Well, I have been looking at the week 2 session of our online Web2 course and tried looking around at what to do. I went to the Flickr site and got caught up in a couple of blogs, looked at quite a few pictures, read a few bits on how to do various things and now feel so overwhelmed that I am going to take a break and come back when I have some more time and, more importantly, mental space! I didn't know much about Flickr and now have some more knowledge. But I have been impressed, and a little intimidated, by the images - they are all so well done.
Anyway, I'll give it another go later. Just have to take a deep breath and dive back in.
